Comparing Selection Criteria to Select Grapevine Clones by Water Use Efficiency

چکیده
The current climate change is forcing growth-adapted genotypes with a higher water use efficiency (WUE). However, the evaluation of WUE being made by different direct and indirect parameters such as instantaneous leaf (WUEi) isotopic discrimination carbon (δ13C) content fruits. In present work, has been evaluated in these two ways wide collection grapevine genotypes, including Tempranillo Garnacha clones, on rootstocks (T-rootstocks). A total 70 have analysed four experimental fields over years. used to measure were bunch biomass intrinsic (WUEi), defined ratio between net CO2 assimilation stomatal conductance. highest lowest identified, differences them found be more than 10%. Generally, showed coincidences clones WUE, suggesting that both are valuable tools classify their breeding programs. δ13C seemed better indicator for determining because it represents integration synthesis time sample (mainly sugars from ripening grapes), which coincides driest period crop. Moreover, WUEi variable parameter plant dependent environmental conditions. work suggests could an interesting clonal selection criteria grapevines WUE. main reasons its fact sampling less time-consuming easier do WUEi, samples can stored late determinations, increasing number analysed.

WATER USE EFFICIENCY Deficit irrigation in grapevine improves water-use efficiency while controlling vigour and production quality
Grapevine irrigation is becoming an important practice to guarantee wine quality or even plant survival in regions affected by seasonal drought. Nevertheless, irrigation has to be controlled to optimise source to sink balance and avoid excessive vigour. The results we present here in two grapevine varieties (Moscatel and Castelão) during 3 years, indicate that we can decrease the amount of wate...
متن کاملComparing Bayesian Model Class Selection Criteria by Discrete Finite Mixtures
We investigate the problem of computing the posterior probability of a model class, given a data sample and a prior distribution for possible parameter settings. By a model class we mean a group of models which all share the same parametric form. In general this posterior may be very hard to compute for high-dimensional parameter spaces, which is usually the case with real-world applications. I...
متن کاملReduced nighttime transpiration is a relevant breeding target for high water-use efficiency in grapevine.
Increasing water scarcity challenges crop sustainability in many regions. As a consequence, the enhancement of transpiration efficiency (TE)-that is, the biomass produced per unit of water transpired-has become crucial in breeding programs. This could be achieved by reducing plant transpiration through a better closure of the stomatal pores at the leaf surface. However, this strategy generally ...

Water, salinity and nitrogen are the major factors affecting maize production in arid and semi-arid areas. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of different water, salinity and nitrogen levels on yield-water relationships, water use, water productivity (WP), water use efficiency (WUE) and water uptake reduction function by maize hybrid SC-704 in a semi-arid area and ...
متن کاملmass and sanitary selection of superior clones of keshmeshi sefid grapevine cultivar in orumieh region
to improve commercial grapevine cultivars, it is necessary to apply such methods that by cultivation of a certain number of vines in a certain area, higher yield could be harvested. to achieve such a goal, healthy stocks with resistant to pests and diseases, high fructification and high quality of vines are needed. all these properties can be obtained successfully through clonal selection. viti...
